Physician Assistants

Donnel Apuzzio, PA-C

Donnel M. Apuzzio, PA-C

Donnel earned her Masters of Science in the Health Sciences from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, with a Minor in Music, from Bucknell University. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has also received special recognition in Surgery by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants, the American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery. She has been published in Physician Assistant for her article "Isoflavones May Help Prevent Premenopausal Breast Cancer", has been a Preceptor for both Physician Assistant and Medical students over the years and has also been a guest Lecturer for Physician Assistant students at the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Joshua earned his Master of Health Science from Nova Southwestern University and his Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant from Pennsylvania College of Technology. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Lycoming College. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma (Freshman Honor Society); Psi Chi (Psychology Honor Society); Phi Kappa Phi (National Honor Society); Sigma Alpha Epsilon (Social Fraternity); and the Penn College Physician Assistant Club.

Dr. Hensel graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia in May 1993 as a Doctor of Optometry. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. Dr. Hensel has practiced as an optometrist in regional offices since 1993.

Pamela Assalita, O.D.

Pamela M. Assalita, O.D.

Dr. Assalita became a Diplomate and Board Certified by The American Board of Optometry in August 2011.   Dr. Assalita was the first Optometrist in Central PA and one of the first 500 out of 31,000 Optometrists nationwide to meet the eligibility requirements and pass that first written Board Certification Examination of the American Board of Optometry.  Dr. Assalita earned her Doctor of Optometry from Salus University/The Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  While there she received Faculty Citations for Clinical Excellence in her Pediatric Internship; for Patient Care in the Eye Institute and in the Preceptorship and External Educations Programs of the College.   She received her Bachelor Degrees in Biology and Psychology from Wilkes University.   Dr. Assalita’s professional memberships include The American Optometric Association and The Pennsylvania Optometric Association.   Prior to joining The Eye Center of Central PA, she was in a solo practice in State College, PA.

Richard A. Bechtel, O.D.

Richard A. Bechtel, O.D.

Dr. Bechtel earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1976 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Optics. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Susquehanna University. Prior to joining The Eye Center, Dr. Bechtel practiced optometry in Lewisburg, Mifflinburg and Duncannon in a solo practice for almost 40 years. Dr. Bechtel resides in Selinsgrove and enjoys the outdoors, scuba diving and antiques.

Dr. Bonnell earned her Doctor of Optometry, with High Honors from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, May, 2012. She received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Minor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Pennsylvania State University. She is a founding member and past secretary of the Penn State Pre-Optometry Society. She is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, the American Optometric Association and has volunteered at Special Olympics, Opening Eyes.

Dr. Campana graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1978 as a Doctor of Optometry. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Bloomsburg State College. Prior to joining The Eye Center, Dr. Campana was practicing optometry in Williamsport and Central PA where he was in a solo practice for over 36 years. Dr. Campana resides in Williamsport and is an avid outdoorsman.

Dr. Fritz earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in May 2014. She had the distinction of graduating with Highest Honors and received clinical honors on all of her rotations, including pediatrics and advanced contact lenses. She also holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Millersville University. Dr. Fritz is a member of the Gold Key Optometric Honor Society, the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, the American Optometric Association, and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

Dr. Moyer graduated in May 2007 from Indiana University of Optometry in Bloomington, IN. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. Dr. Moyer is fluent in Spanish and is also a member of the American Optometric Association and Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

Dr. Olex earned her Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) in 2001. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA . Dr. Olex was the recipient of the PCO Award for Clinical Excellence - Pediatric Internship, the PCO Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Scholarship and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.

He served as an Optical Lab Specialist in the U.S. Army earning both the Good Conduct Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Paul W. Braunegg, Jr, M.D.

Dr. Braunegg graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh in 1984 and completed his anesthesia residency at Hershey Medical Center where he also served as Chief Resident. He is board certified with the American Board of Anesthesiology. He was a staff physician for 22 years at Susquehanna Health System Hospitals, where he served as Medical Director of Anesthesia, Chairman of the Anesthesia Department, and also served on the Board of Directors.

Dr. Malvica earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry School of Audiology, Salus University. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a member of The Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology, and The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Dr. Malvica is a certified ASHA member and board-certified audiologist.
